steam turbine blade types

Steam turbine blades are basically a couple of types used to produce electricity in a power plant. Study with DONGTURBO ELECTRIC a little about steam turbine blades.

Steam turbine blades can be broadly classified as either axial or radial blade. Axial blades — the kind that look like long, skinny plane wings. The steam passes straight down the turbine shaft. Radial blades are fan-shaped, with steam coming in sideways to the turbine shaft.

A Guide to Axial and Radial Steam Turbine Blades

Axially-bladed rotors are more commonly found in large steam turbines since they are better for high pressures and temperatures. They are efficient at extracting energy from the steam. Smaller turbines at lower pressure are better with radial blades. They’re also easier to build and repair.
